Major Koon Leong Joshua GOH

Major GOH was born June 4, 1991 and has a twin sister, with another sister a year younger to the date. Shortly after that, the family moved to the USA due to his father’s posting in New York City. They returned to Singapore in 1995 with heavy New York accents. His fondness for America has remained.

When returning to Singapore, Major GOH went to Catholic grade school and high school. Singapore’s official language is English - Major GOH is fluent in English and Mandarin. He was active in scouting and achieved the equivalent of the Eagle Scout Award.

This is when Joshua first considered the military as his profession. The Major completed his BS in Chemistry at Imperial College London in 2010. Then he completed an MA in Science and Security with the Department of War Studies at King’s College, also in London.

As a part of National Service, he began Basic Military Training at age 19 and then volunteered to join the Army. Shortly after Joshua was commissioned to London where he completed his BS and MA programs. Then he returned to complete the remainder of Infantry Officer’ training and went on to serve as a Platoon Commander in the Singapore Infantry Regiment.

He also was posted to Officer Cadet School as an instructor and returned to his battalion as a Company Commander. Major GOH led 128 soldiers. and then took on a staff position in the Training Department in General Staff. Originally, he expected to attend CGSC in 2020, however, this was postponed due to COVID.

He is married to the love of his life, Abigail. They spend time in the church, love nature, kids, and coffee. Joshua enjoys playing tennis and looks forward to learning how to play golf.
